LASU first Studentsʼ Union president dead

The first Studentsʼ Union president for Lagos State University, LASU, Comrade Olafemi Yomi Orisa has died.

This was made known to us via a WhatsApp status of Barr. Yusuf Temilola Nurudeen, who was also an alumnus of LASU and past president of the union.

According to information reaching TPN, the former Union president died around 4pm on Friday, May 1, after a protracted sickness.

An alumna of the institution, Olabode Garbadeen announced the death of Orisa via a Facebook post wrote: “JUST LOST A FRIEND… AND MY DAY IS SPOILT.

“The The first students union president of the Lagos State University, (LASU) Mr. Olafemi Yomi Orisa is dead. He died 4 pm this afternoon after a protracted illness. A historian of note and intellectual par excellence. This indeed is a great loss to anyone who had ever come in contact with this erudite scholar and courageous social commentator. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace!”

Orisa served as LASUSU president in 1988 and graduated from the department of History. He is an indigene of Ondo state.
