Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU; Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU and those of the Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU on Monday shut down the main campus of the Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo over the inability of the Lagos State government to pay them the N30,000 monthly minimum wage.

This shut down denied the Vice Chancellor, Prof Olanrewaju Fagbohun, SAN, workers and the students entry into the institution premises, who were hoping to resume normal academic activities after closure for months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The workers failed to accept the plead of the Vice Chancellor.

According to report reaching TPN, the protest was as a result of the failure to fulfill the promise made by the Lagos State Government on increment in salaries.

It was also gathered that the promise has been made over a year ago.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced September 14 as the resumption date for tertiary institutions.
