Arsenal are known to be signing mostly cheap players for some unknown reasons. Most people said it’s the mentality and stinginess of former Arsenal coach, Arsene Wenger.

Surprisingly, here are Arsenal’s top 5 club-record signing:

Nicolas Pepe (£72million)

Arsenal confirmed Nicolas Pepe’s transfer from the Ligue 1 side, Lille for a club-record fee of £72million.

Pepe, being the forth signing for the Gunners, was signed on Thursday, August 1, 2019.

It was reported that Arsenal paid an initial £20million and to pay £52million on installment for 5 years.

The 24-year-old winger, Nicolas Pepe also penned a five-year deal with the Gunners.

Joining the Gunners, he was assigned jersey number 19.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£56.1m)

In January 31, 2018, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joined Arsenal, from Borussia Dortmund for a club-record fee of £56.1million.

This made him the most the most expensive Gabonese player of all time.

In his first full season in the Premier League, Aubameyang finished as the league’s joint top-goalscorer.

Alexandre Lacazette (£46.5m)

Striker Alexandre Lacazette joined the North London club after a successful 3 consecutive seasons with Lyon.

On July 5, 2017, Arsenal signed Lacazette for a club-record fee of £46.5million.

His debut season, Lacazette clinches the FA Community Shield title.

German international, Mesut Ozil, on September 2, 2013, left Spanish club, Real Madrid to join Arsenal, for a club-record fee of £42.5million.

When this deal went through, he became the most expensive German player of all time.

German defender, Shkodran Mustafi join English club, Arsenal from Valencia, on August 30, 2016, for an undisclosed fee, reported to be in excess of £35million.

Mustafi breaks Bacary Sagna’s record of “unbeaten start of 17 games at the club” when Arsenal drew 3-3 with Bournemouth on his 18th game without defeat.

Nicolas Pepe very happy for Lacazette partnership

Arsenal new signing, Nicolas Pepe is very happy to play alongside Alexandre Lacazette after successful transfer.

The Ivorian international can’t wait to play alongside the French striker.

24-year-old Pepe said:

“When I knew I was coming to Arsenal, I immediately thought of the French guys who play here. Then I also thought of Özil, the world champions, Lacazette, Aubameyang and many more.

“Of course, these are the players who sprang to mind because I used to watch them when I was at Lille.

“Also, Lacazette used to play for Lyon and so I have had the opportunity to play against him and it will be an honour to play alongside him.”

He penned a five-year deal with the Gunners after the clubs agreed £72million transfer fee.

Pepe joins the North London club from Ligue 1 side, Lille.

Pepe joined the North London club in a blockbuster deal of £72million.

The 24-year-old winger, Nicolas Pepe also penned a five-year deal with the Gunners.

The Ivory Coast international, happy for the transfer, told newsmen:

“Being here is very emotional because it has not been easy for me.

“I have come a long way and struggled a lot and so signing for this great club is a big reward.”

Pepe, 24, disclosed how hard he worked to be at this level, and this big move is a great reward.

He has been assigned the number 19 jersey and also today becomes the club-record signing.
