Arsenal’s Unai Emery not keen on Khedira

Arsenal are unlikely to seal Sami Khedira signature this summer, despite the German being spotted at The Emirates.

The Gunners boss, Unai Emery, on Sunday admitted that he had not heard any rumour linking the player with a move to the club.

“Khedira is a very good player but this is the first time I have heard his name mentioned,” Emery told a press conference after 2-1 defeat to Lyon in the Emirates Cup.

The German World Cup winner joined Juventus in 2015 from Real Madrid, but continues to struggle in his last two seasons.

Khedira, 32, made just 10 appearances in the league in the 2018/2019 season as form and fitness woes continued.

Since the arrival of Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey this summer, it’s guessed that Khedira’s time may be up.

Rumours had it that Arsenal and Wolves are interested in offering the German international a place.

Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Juventus are ‘examining the squad’ and are considering selling a number of players, as they look forward to the new season.

DONE DEAL: Arsenal signs Ceballos on long-term loan

Arsenal have secured Real Madrid midfielder, Dani Ceballos on a season-long deal.

Ceballos becomes Arsenal second signing this summer following Gabriel Martinelli’s arrival earlier in the window.

The Spanish international has featured for Real Madrid 56 times since he joined from Real Betis.

“We’re excited to see Dani join us. He is a talented player with big technical ability, creativity and precision,” Unai Emery said.

Ceballos, has capped six times by his country, and also won the European Under-21 Championship in Italy in June.

The 22-year-old Spanish has been assigned number eight jersey following Aaron Ramsey’s departure to Juventus.

He could make his debut against Lyon in the Emirates Cup on Sunday.

Arsenal close in on Real Madrid Ceballos

Arsenal are close to signing Real Madrid midfielder, Dani Ceballos on loan and have gave up on Kieran Tierney.

Ceballos is on his way to join the Gunners after choosing them over Tottenham Hotspurs, on a season-long loan deal.

Ceballos lifted the European U-21 Championship trophy with Spain this summer.

Arsenal manager, Unai Emery in a recent interview said he could soon be on his way to Arsenal.

Emery said on Monday:

“Ceballos is a very good player. I know him from Real Betis at the beginning and Real Madrid.

“He played very well in the Under-21s European Championship, his national team won the competition.”

4 free-agent players Emery can sign to strengthen Arsenal

It’s two weeks into the month of July, which is leaving the transfer window open only for few days above two weeks.

With the time remaining, Arsenal are seen yet to strengthen their squad enough ahead of the new season.

The transfer window for English clubs shuts on Thursday, August 8 and it’s known that Gunners head coach Unai Emery does not have a huge budget to work with.

The North Londoners would be hoping for the Spaniard will sign some reinforcements after failing to secure a spot in the Champions League, making it the second consecutive season for the Gunners.

Emery will want to replace Aaron Ramsey, also to bring in a left-back, central back and a wide forward.

But with a tight budget, below is a list of four players who will be available for free as their contracts at their previous clubs expired on June 30.

Dani Alves

Dani Alves

Dani Alves would be a very good addition to the Arsenal defense with Emery needing help to strengthen the defense line.

The Brazilian full-back became the most decorated footballer of all time with PSG’s title win last season making 32 appearances last season, and his experience could be invaluable for the Gunners this season.

The 36-year-old confirmed his departure from Paris Saint-Germain last weekend and he is now on the look-out for his next club.

Defensive reinforcements are expected to be Emery’s main priority this summer with Bellerin’s injury, and the Gunners could do no worse than to take a punt on Alves, even if it is only for one season.

Despite Alves’ age, the Brazilian form is more than excellent for Gunners.

El Pais reporter, Alvaro Levrero, already said Alves will join Arsenal on a free transfer ‘shortly’.

Filipe Luis

Filipe Luis is another star defender who could add some much needed experience to Arsenal’s defense line.

Many are expecting Luis to join Spanish side, Barcelona as back-up to Jordi Alba.

Luis has been one of Atletico’s shining stars in recent seasons despite struggling in a previous spell in the Premier League with Chelsea, and the Gunners could do much worse than to take a chance on the 33-year-old full-back.

Gary Cahill

Gary Cahill

I know this might surprise most people, but let’s be factual, Gary Cahill could fill the hole in the Arsenal defense line.

Cahill has been on the sidelines most times during the last season since Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri isn’t impress with his form.

The 30-year-old has now left Chelsea, but having spent the last 11-years playing in the Premier League, Cahill could become the type of leader the Gunners have long been craving at the back.

Yacine Brahimi

Yacine Brahimi turns a free-agent after turning down a new deal with Porto earlier this year, which also sees him as a good signing for Unai Emery if he could join the Gunners.

Brahimi is also another high-profile name on the list of possible free-agents deal for Arsenal boss, Emery.

The 29-year-old is clearly keen on a new challenge, he could become a real asset for the Gunners, after impressing for the Primeira Liga giants over the past couple of seasons.

And given the lack of wingers at the Emirates, a move for Brahimi wouldn’t be the worst addition Emery could make to his squad this summer, although Premier League rivals Everton and Manchester United are also reportedly interested in the winger.

Interestingly, the winger has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past 24 hours.

According to reports in Algeria, Brahimi is in ‘very advanced negotiations’ to join the Gunners who have a financial advantage over Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas.

Dani Alves to join Arsenal for free

Brazilian right-back, Dani Alves will join the Gunners as a free agent and play under Unai Emery.

According to former El Pais reporter, Alvaro Levrero, Alves will join Arsenal on a free transfer ‘shortly’.

Alves, whose PSG deal officially expired on June 30, he said:

“Another cycle in my life ends today, a victorious cycle, one of learning and experiences.

“I would like to thank the PSG family for the opportunity we had together.”

36-year-old Alves made 32 appearances last season.

As Arsenal have realised Lichtsteiner, Emery needs a strong option to start in right-back position until Bellerin’s plenty recovering.

Despite Alves’ age the Brazilian form is more than excellent for Gunners.
