Arsenal are expected to welcome Danish midfielder Christian Norgaard to London this week for a medical, as the club moves closer to finalising a £15 million deal with Brentford.
The transfer, agreed last week, includes an initial £10 million payment with an additional £5 million in performance-related add-ons.
Norgaard, a key figure in Brentford’s midfield since their promotion to the Premier League, is being brought in to bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad ahead of the new season.
The 31-year-old is seen as a direct replacement for Ghana international Thomas Partey, whose contract with Arsenal has expired.
With his Premier League experience and defensive midfield qualities, Norgaard is expected to add depth and competition to Arsenal’s central midfield.
In addition to the Norgaard deal, Arsenal are also preparing for the formal unveiling of two other signings: Spanish goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Real Sociedad midfielder, Martin Zubimendi.
Both players are believed to have already completed or are near completing their medicals, with official announcements expected within days.
Kepa arrives to add depth to Arsenal’s goalkeeping options, while Zubimendi is likely to be a key part of Arteta’s long-term midfield plans.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are still in discussions with Spanish side Valencia over a potential move for 21-year-old centre-back Cristhian Mosquera.
The highly rated defender has been on Arsenal’s radar for several months and could be another long-term investment in the club’s backline.
Arsenal’s transfer activity is not slowing down, as they remain in the market for both a winger and a striker to round off their summer business.
With Champions League football and another Premier League title push on the horizon, the North London club appears focused on strengthening all areas of the squad before the new campaign kicks off.
