Former Arsenal and Ghanaian international midfielder, Thomas Partey, has been charged with multiple sexual offences, days after becoming a free agent.
The 32-year-old, whose contract with Arsenal expired this week, is facing five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
According to prosecutors, the charges stem from alleged incidents involving three women between 2021 and 2022.
Two of the rape charges relate to one woman, while three others involve a second woman. The charge of sexual assault is connected to a third woman.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Partey is expected to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5 to face the charges.
The developments come as a major blow to the former Premier League star, who had spent five years with Arsenal after signing from Atlético Madrid in 2020.
Neither Arsenal nor Partey has released an official statement regarding the charges as of press time.
