Alhaji Aminu Dantata, one of Nigeria’s most prominent businessmen and philanthropists, has died at the age of 94.
His passing was confirmed by a family source, who disclosed that the elder statesman died in the early hours of Friday in the United Arab Emirates.
According to the source, Dantata passed away around 3am Nigerian time at a hospital in Abu Dhabi, following a brief illness.
The family is expected to release details about his funeral arrangements in the coming days.
Born on May 19, 1931, in Kano, Dantata was a towering figure in Nigeria’s business sector. Over several decades, he played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s private enterprise landscape, becoming a symbol of resilience, foresight, and commitment to national development.
