Arsenal have reached a full agreement on personal terms with Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres, paving the way for a potential summer move from Sporting CP.
According to sources close to the negotiations, Gyökeres has agreed to a five-year contract that would keep him at the Emirates Stadium until June 2030.
The forward, who has enjoyed a prolific spell in Portugal, has reportedly made it clear to Sporting that his preference is a move to Arsenal, and no other club.
Talks between both clubs are said to be progressing steadily, with Arsenal pushing to finalise the deal as quickly as possible.
While no fee has been officially confirmed, Sporting are expected to demand a figure close to the striker’s release clause, which is understood to be in excess of €85 million (£72.25 million).
Gyökeres, 26, scored 43 goals across all competitions last season and has become one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards.
His pace, physicality, and finishing ability are believed to align perfectly with Mikel Arteta’s tactical vision for the club’s frontline.
The move would mark a major attacking reinforcement for Arsenal, who finished second in the Premier League last season and are aiming to add more firepower to challenge Manchester City for the title.
